It was one of our the first Christmas cards we published, and it hasn’t stopped selling since. It’s so popular, it accounts for about one in four of our sales this time of year. We’re proud of these dogs!

Waiting Dogs of Christmas

It happens every Christmas, as the nights are drawing in,
We notice something’s different; it’s all gone strangely quiet.
The tree is up, our tees are on, we’re hanging favourite prints.
But everything’s too calm and still: where’s the festive riot?

Upstairs the bath mat’s empty, the duvet’s strangely cold,
The cushions, for once, are in the right place.
We’re relieved our socks have fewer holes,
And nothing nudges our hand as we adjust the mask upon our face.

We think about it when we come in and drop our bag or tote.
As we’re chopping in the kitchen, nothing pulls on apron strings.
When we’re pinning badges on our jackets, or jotting down a note,
Is there something missing? That’s when a bell begins to ring.

Around the Christmas tree, sat just beside the gifts,
Staring at the branches, stars and painted cones,
As tinsel twists and baubles spin, two patient heads lift,
Eyes fixed on a precious, painted bone.

We crowd around the tree when we remember,
The Waiting Dogs of Christmas are there every single year.
We would, while warming our hands and sipping a cuppa,
Take a photo of pair, but this year we’ll leave it to this gear.

This Christmas, it is time to mask up!

Cue: ’60s kapow! Some still believe he’s an urban myth. Some say he’s a guardian as old as the city itself. Others are well used to jumping out the way of presents tumbling from his arms as he swings across the rooftops. A name that thrills kids as much as it prompts elvish anxiety attacks, he is… The Sky Santa! He may not be the most delicate Super Santa, and he’s more likely to drop a gift-wrapped present than not , but everyone in the city keeps an eye on the sky every Christmas, hoping for a glimpse of his billowing cape or the Sky Santa Signal reflected on the clouds. Cue: Fanfare! A superhero slip set his alien grotto‘s toy machine into overdrive and almost destroyed his home planet in an explosion of Christmas presents! Dispatched to Earth to cool off, he was adopted by penguins and narwhals, becoming a force for good in the arctic circle – even if he’s still a little over the top. The elves, reindeer and snowmen may have to keep a wide berth, but this Super Santa is determined to work for tinsel, jingle bells and the Northern Pole, even when he’s practising his sleigh control!

Our Halloween store‘s been refreshed – the third of our guides to the unique designs we drag from the crypt this time of year turns to the squash that everyone else sticks their knives in to! [kidding: we carve them too!]

Radiant Pumpkins

Few things sum up Halloween like a pumpkin, an association drawn over hundreds of years. But this fruit of the autumn isn’t a Jack-o’-lantern. Yet. Striking in geometric patterns or as a still-life, this unique, illustrated squash (pre-carving) takes inspiration from the work of Van Gogh to carry a host of autumn colours through painterly brush strokes. The standard size still life is available on over 50 products, from stickers to mugs to clothing. We love how they’ve turned out.

You know what happens when you stare at something too long? The more we looked at pumpkin design, the more fascinated we became with its shape, it’s lack of symmetry, the negation around its vivid shape. We zoomed in. The result was a second collection that takes the orange squash into a more abstract and startling direction, showing off the brush strokes that take on a life of their own.
